Xander has officially entered the Johnson Giant Club!

So, we went to the doctor yesterday for Xander's 4 month checkup. He now weighs 18 lbs which puts him in the 90th percentile for his age, and he is 27.85 inches long which puts him ABOVE THE CHARTS! The doctor said he is the same height as the average 8-month old. So, basically, our baby has grown 6 inches in 4 months. And to think all of the nutrients to fuel that growth came from me....no wonder I've been eating so much dairy!

Speaking of dairy, I stopped drinking milk and eating ice cream to see if that would help with Xander's abdominal discomfort, and it did (either that, or his intestines matured at the same time I stopped)! I only eat cultured dairy now (yogurt, sour cream, cheese, etc) because I read that the bacteria used to culture those things breaks down the lactose. I've been drinking soy milk and only eat frozen yogurt or lactose-free ice cream. Xander hasn't had a bad tummy day since! The doctor says I should continue this for another month or so and then re-introduce the cow's milk and see how he responds.

Wow! My first blog!

So, this is my very first blog, ever. I figure since I have an adorable baby now, I have something to blog about! So, I was going through my email today, and I found buried in like 300 junk mails a treasure of an update from my sister with the adorable black and white picture of Xander and I right after we brought him home from the hospital. He was so tiny! I'm amazed at how quickly he's grown. He's a giant 15 lbs now! He's giving me a workout when I carry him around. He's 3 months old now! Amazingly, he isn't keeping up with Jen's (my sister's) kids on the height scale, though. At two months old he was in the 64th percentile for height and the 40th percentile for weight. Jen says her kids were always in the 90 plus for height. Maybe he inherited a bit of his Great Grandma Gurr's short gene, although, he's only 3 months old, so he's got lots of time to catch up.
